Although I have painted for pleasure since school, I came late to Botanical painting.

I enrolled on the Botanical Painting diploma course run by the English Gardening School at the Chelsea Physic Garden in London in 2009 and graduated with distinction in 2011. That same year I moved to Salisbury and settled quickly into the thriving local art scene.

Since then I have become a member of the Society of Botanical Artists (SBA) the South West Society of Botanical Artists (SWSBA) Amicus Botanicus, the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASABS) the Salisbury Group of Artists and Plain Arts Salisbury

I have exhibited regularly, 3 times at the RHS Botanical Art Exhibition where I achieved 3 silver-gilt medals and at the SBA where I have been awarded 2 Certificates of Botanical Merit and a commendation for composition.

I also exhibit at the SWSBA’s annual exhibition and with local art groups in Salisbury as well as being part of Salisbury’s Plain Arts trail.

I am now an established Botanical Art Teacher and run regular workshops at Sarum College in Salisbury’s Cathedral Close and for Artsmart, an independent art school in Beaconsfield.

In 2016 I set up the Salisbury Florilegium Society. This saw a group of my students and local artists come together with the aim of painting plants and flowers from the gardens in the Cathedral Close. They have been exhibited annually as part of the Friends of Salisbury Cathedral’s Open Garden Trail.

At the beginning of the first lockdown I stared painting as many of the wild flowers I could find on my daily walk around Salisbury. As the summer progressed the number of species increased until the sketchbook took on a life of its own. Painted on A3 pages I am hoping to complete a full growing year before putting it away.
